Characterization of PAP1-upregulated Glutathione S-transferase genes in Arabidopsis thaliana

چکیده
Glutathione S-transferase (GST) plays an important role in the transport and accumulation of anthocyanin and proanthocyanidin in plants. In our previous study on Arabidopsis thaliana overexpressing the PRODUCTION OF ANTHOCYANIN PIGMENT 1 (PAP1) gene encoding an MYB transcription factor, the AtGSTF5 and AtGSTF6 genes encoding GST-like protein were up-regulated along with TRANSPARENT TESTA 19 (TT19), which is required for the accumulation of anthocyanin and proanthocyanidin. The proteins encoded by these 3 genes showed very weak GST activities as detected by using recombinant proteins expressed in Escherichia coli. The anthocyanin levels were severely decreased in the tt19 mutant but not in the Atgstf6 mutant, suggesting that TT19 is almost exclusively involved in anthocyanin accumulation. The results of co-expression network analysis using public transcriptome data corresponded to the proposition of the predominant role of TT19 in anthocyanin accumulation.

Gene transcriptomic profile in arabidopsis thaliana mediated by radiation-induced bystander effects
Background: The in vivo radiation-induced bystander effects (RIBE) at the developmental, genetic, and epigenetic levels have been well demonstrated using model plant Arabidopsis thaliana (A. thaliana). However, the mechanisms underlying RIBE in plants are not clear, especially lacking a comprehensive knowledge about the genes and biological pathways involved in the RIBE in plants. Materials and...
متن کاملMicroarray analysis of gene expression patterns in Arabidopsis seedlings under trehalose, sucrose and sorbitol treatment
Trehalose is the non-reducing alpha-alpha-1, 1-linked glucose disaccharide. The biosynthesisprecursor of trehalose, trehalose-6-phosphate (T6P), is essential for plant development, growth, carbon utilization and alters photosynthetic capacity but its mode of action is not understood. In thecurrent research, 6 days old seedlings of Arabidopsis thaliana (Columbia ecotype) were grown inliquid cultu...
متن کاملNegative control of Strictisidine synthase like-7 gene on salt stress resistance in Arabidopsis thaliana
Strictosidine synthase-like (SSL) is a group of gene families in the Arabidopsis genome, which whose orthologues in other plants are key enzymes in mono-terpenoid indole-alkaloid biosynthesis pathway. The SSL7 is upregulated upon treatments of Arabidopsis plants with signaling molecules such as SA, methyl jasmonate and ethylene. To find the functional role of the gene, a T-DNA-mediated knockout...
متن کاملMolecular cloning and characterization of three cDNAs encoding putative mitogen-activated protein kinase kinases (MAPKKs) in Arabidopsis thaliana.
We isolated three Arabidopsis thaliana cDNA clones (ATMKK3, ATMKK4 and ATMKK5) encoding protein kinases with extensive homology to the mitogen-activated protein kinase kinases (MAPKKs) of various organisms in the catalytic domain. ATMKK3 shows high homology (85% identity) to NPK2, a tobacco MAPKK homologue. ATMKK4 and 5 are closely related to each other (84% identity). Phylogenetic analysis sho...

AbstractTwo Arabidopsis thaliana genes, psr9.2 and psr9.4 appearedto be highly similar to a phosphate-starved induced gene,psr9, isolated from Brassica nigra suspension cells.Sequence analysis classified the encoded polypeptides asmembers of leucine-rich repeat (LRR) proteins superfamily. The sequence of psr9 proteins comprise a unique N-terminalregion e...
